A boy's best friend is his mother.

An independent portrayal of Norman Bates, heavily based on Robert Bloch's book ❛ PSYCHO ❜ & in the 6O's homonymous movie.

NORMAN BATES.

Norman is a smart, sensitive, quietly funny, handsome & sometimes shy 4O - year - old man with an intensely close bond with his mother, Norma Bates.Norman has his books as a fugue from his life ( & his mother ) as the Bates Motel manager. He also has a hobby of stuffing dead animals. He takes care of his mother and the Motel 24/7.

YOU HATE PEOPLE.

Because, really, you're AFRAID of them, aren't you?

"I won't go in there. I won't! But you have to. There's no other way. And stop talking to yourself!"He had to stop talking to himself. He had to get back that calm feeling again. He had to face reality.
And what was reality?
𝐀 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐠𝐒𝐫π₯. The girl his mother had killed.

If you were any kind of a man, you'd have told her so. (...) You'd have brought in the bottle and offered her a drink, drunk with her, and then you'd carry her over to the bed andβ€”No, you wouldn't. Not you. Because you're impotent.

Mother's voice was deceptively gentle, but that
didn't fool Norman. Not when she called him boy.
Forty years old, and she called him boy: that's
how she treated him, too, which made it worse.

That was nice. To be rocked to sleep, with mother standing over you β€”
(...)
There was nothing to be afraid of.
She'd come to protect him from the bitches. Yes, that was it. She'd come to protect him. Whenever he needed her, Mother was there.
And now he could sleep.

Let the bitches laugh at him.He knew more about them than they ever dreamed.
It was hard for Norman to focus his eyes. He felt hot and dizzy, hot and dizzy.
Part of it was due to the drinks, part to the excitement.
But most of it was due to her.

❝ I'm afraid Mother gets me a little upset sometimes. ❞His voice lowered again, and the apologetic note returned.❝ I guess it's my fault.
I'm not too good at taking care of her.
❞

It had been a mistake to invite the girl up to the house. Norman knew that the moment he opened his mouth, but she was so pretty, and she had looked so tired and forlorn. He knew what it was to be tired and forlorn, with nobody to turn to, nobody who'd understand.

My portrayal of Norman is heavily based on the book 'Psycho' by Robert Bloch. I might take the 6O's movie into account when writing him. I'll gladly write with Norma from the TV show, but that's all. I do not take the tv show's story into account in my usual writing. Unless I write with a Norma. Then, I can adapt.Speaking of Norma, I would love to have a main one.My portrayal is literate & descriptive.
One-line answers will be ignored.
MDNI. I will probably write triggering content so. Heads up on that. Possible tws: blood, violence, murder, mental disorder.

IMPORTANT: diverging a little from the canon, since I really want to write with a Norma, I've decided to have his mother ALIVE.Norma being alive doesn't change the fact that Norman killed her boyfriend with strychnine, due to his intense jealousy. He couldn't bear hurting her nor living without his mother.

CANONICALLY, Norman is an only child. His father went away when he was still a baby, leaving him alone with his mother.

Norman is 4O years old as like in the book.
However, if I find a Norma, I can change his age to be younger.
